Official Selection In Competition

The jury for the Official Selection in Competition includes musician and actress Kim Gordon, who appears in The Chronology of Water, screened in the Official Selection Out of Competition; Spanish filmmaker Manuel Martín Cuenca, acclaimed director of El amor de Andrea, featured in the section A New Élan in Spanish Cinema; fellow filmmaker Rodrigo Moreno, one of the leading figures of the New Argentine Cinema; actress Stacy Martin; and architect Francisco Aires Mateus. The Official Selection In Competition features eleven films competing for the NOS Best Film Award.

Discoveries

The Discoveries section showcases eight recently produced films and aims to highlight the diversity of perspectives and paths of filmmakers who are still relatively unknown to the Portuguese public. The jury is composed of filmmaker and video artist Avi Mograbi; director, producer, and photographer Stéphanie Argerich; filmmaker Margarida Cardoso; pianists Alain Planès and Stephen Kovacevich; and musician João Peste.

International Film Schools Meeting

The International Film Schools Meeting brings together short films by students from some of the most prestigious film schools in the world: FDA Belgrade, ESCAC Barcelona, and Universidade Lusófona. Each school will present two films in competition. The Award for Best Short Film will be granted by director Inti Herrera, one of today’s most renowned and awarded Cuban filmmakers; actress Binete Undonque, known for stage works such as C., Celeste e a primeira virtude (2023) and films such as Sabura (2025), by Falcão Nhaga; and filmmaker Simão Cayatte, who has received several international awards. The short films will be screened at Cinema São Jorge (Room 2) with free admission. The award ceremony, followed by a roundtable discussion, will take place in the Manoel de Oliveira Room at Cinema São Jorge on November 13.
