Multiplying unprecedented initiatives is one of LEFFEST's major objectives. Alongside with the film program, LEFFEST organizes concerts and shows of artists whose work is linked, closely or remotely, to the 7th art. Yasmine Hamdan, Sophie Auster, Fanny Ardant, Julee Cruise, Blanca Li, Victoria Abril, Piotr Anderszewski, Gidon Kremer & Giedre Dirvanauskaite, Dino Saluzzi and Anja Lechner are some of the artists we were lucky to welcome to the festival in the past.

LEFFEST affirms itself as a place of confluence of Arts, from every angle. Besides being a film festival, one of LEFFEST's major aims is to display the work of visual artists who are closely connected to the world of cinema. So that the motion picture melts with the still image through photography, painting, sculpture, drawing or serigraphy.

Past exhibitions showed works by artists such as David Hockney and Alberto de Lacerda, musician Lou Reed, Peter Suschitzky and Darius Khondji (two of the greatest directors of photography in the world), actress Juliette Binoche, director David Cronenberg, VHILS and Miquel Barceló.

The LEFFEST has always devoted special attention, as it is one of our main goals, to promoting discussions and develop thoughts about art and the world, by organizing an international symposium, for which we invite several of the most important directors, writers, thinkers and artists, who, throughout three days, debate the topic at issue, thus contributing, with innovative ideas, to the understanding and development of contemporary thought and creation.

Masterclasses and Debates

This is one of the most attractive and beloved sections of the LEFFEST, both for the general public and the national and international press.

The Festival aims, through its choices, to be a scene of reflection on the relation between the film industry and other forms of artistic creation. It seeks to create a place where the audience, through meetings, discussions and masterclasses, will be stimulated to reflect and to exchange ideas. In previous editions, David Lynch, Aleksandr Sokurov, Pedro Almodóvar, Willem Dafoe, Juliette Binoche, John Malkovich and Paul Giamatti were some of the guests who presented the public of the LEFFEST with the unique opportunity to interact with some of the biggest names in the movie industry.
