Brady Corbet was born in 1988 in the United States. He began his film career as a young actor in films such as Mysterious Skin (2004) by Gregg Araki, Funny Games (2007) by Michael Haneke, Melancholia (2011) by Lars von Trier, Clouds of Sils Maria (2014) by Olivier Assayas, and Force Majeure (2014) by Ruben Östlund. Corbet’s preference for auteur cinema is evident and informs his work as a director. He directed his first feature film in 2015, The Childhood of a Leader, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, winning the Luigi de Laurentiis Best First Feature Award and the Award for Best Director. In 2018, he directed Vox Lux, which also premiered in the Official Competition at the Venice Film Festival. His most recent film, The Brutalist (2024), marked his third directorial appearance at the Venice Film Festival and was one of the most well-received films, winning the FIPRESCI Award and the Silver Lion.
