In this experimental and frenetic adventure, Radu Jude paints a critical portrait of modern Romania as he follows the story of an exhausted and precarious production assistant who travels through the city of Bucharest in search of a cast to film an advertisement about workplace safety. Winner of the Special Jury Prize in Locarno, this social satire addresses some of the most pressing contemporary issues, from the hypocrisy of large companies to labor exploitation and online life on social media.

“I believe that the strength of cinema does not lie in the story or in the different philosophies behind the stories, but in its immense descriptive capacity. I hope this movie will not 'express' something, will not have any 'meanings,' nor convey 'denotations,' I only hope it will show; it will offer the detailed description of an extreme human experience on which to relate with tenderness, fear and respect.” – Radu Jude, 2016, about Inimi cicatrate

“A film that bursts with comedy, rage and also grace, Radu Jude has created something completely original from the margins of contemporary Bucarest, where the vulgar humor of the movie´s star is a welcome reprieve from the brutality of work, Money, and survival, that we see through a day in her life.” Jury Commentary.
