Béatrice Dalle (b. 1964, Brest) made her breakthrough in French cinema in 1986 with her leading role in Jean-Jacques Beineix’s Betty Blue, earning a César Award nomination for Most Promising Actress, and international recognition. Her career has since been marked by unconventional choices and an unmistakable screen presence. She has worked with Jim Jarmusch in Night on Earth (1991) and Claire Denis in Trouble Every Day (2001), a disturbing exploration of desire and violence in which Dalle delivers a visceral performance. At the 20th LEFFEST, Dalle will join Abel Ferrara for a conversation following a screening of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom. The programme also features a screening of Trouble Every Day and a reading of Jean Genet’s work performed by Dalle, bringing cinema and literature into dialogue through her distinctive performance of his writing.
