Tabu

Three women live in an old apartment building in Lisbon: Aurora, an eccentric and temperamental elderly lady; Santa, her Cape Verdean maid; and Pilar, a generous and devoted neighbor. Feeling that her end is near, Aurora makes an unusual request: she wants to meet Gian Luca Ventura, a person they didn’t know existed. Determined to fulfill her wish, Santa and Pilar uncover a shared history of love and crime between Aurora and Gian Luca. Their story began fifty years earlier in Mozambique, just before the Colonial War, and goes like this: “Aurora had a farm in Africa at the foothills of Mount Tabu…”
