In search of peace, Giorgio has escaped to a small island in the Mediterranean, where he lives with his dog, Melampo, and spends his days painting. His tranquillity is disrupted when Liza abandons her boyfriend’s yacht and swims to the island. Liza becomes fascinated by this solitary and distant man, but, to her dismay, he prefers the company of his dog. Overcome with jealousy, she decides to kill Melampo and take his place. This absurd fable about mad love is steeped in a dark vision of humanity, which readily reverts to its animalistic instincts.
