Carnival: looking for Paulo ‘Miller’

A 2008 short film made alongside Our Beloved Month of August documents Gomes and his crew’s hapless search during the 2007 carnival for one of Arganil’s most legendary and elusive characters. In keeping with the feature’s free-roaming style, the film focuses less on the subject himself and more on Gomes and his crew’s failure to capture him. Not only does he miss his famous jump during this year’s carnival, but a seeming technical/audio issue (similar to the feature’s blend of fact and fiction) during Gomes’s initial on-camera meeting with Paulo “Miller” makes the footage almost impossible to understand.
