“Sobre la falta de hogar”

Conference by Alberto Ruiz de Samaniego

Our home has all too often suffered the torment of the other, the intrusion of the guest, the threat of expropriation. However, today we are witnessing a radical expropriation, deterritorialization, and relocation. This also involves the body, because the digital revolution affects the essence of the human: it changes our subjectivity. For example, it causes the body to distance itself for the first time from the direct perception of reality. And also from the political (in its relationship with what is closest: the local, but also, of course, the national, the nation-state).

The sense of expropriation is perhaps more acute, more pressing these days. Indeed, our world has become a universe of global exile, which seems—for now and to a large extent—unnatural.
