“A psychogenic fugue is a dissociative disorder in which a person forgets who they are and leaves home to create a new life”, explains Miller on the concept behind the collaboration. “During the fugue there is no memory of a former life and, upon recovering from the fugue, there is no memory of events during the dissociative state. What can one do with a woman that loves logs and John Malkovich?”

Psychogenic Fugue by the American photographer Sandro Miller, includes a series of photographs and a short-film, with the most iconic characters in David Lynch’s work, played by John Malkovich, with whom the photographer has collaborated for over 20 years. Eight new portraits of David Lynch by Sandro Miller were added to this exhibition. The visitor is welcomed by a ‘transfigured’ piece, designed specifically for this space, in a collaboration between the photographer and La Chrome studio.

Sandro Miller is also famous for his celebrities’ and artists’ portraits. He has worked for the most acclaimed brands and publishers (from Forbes and GQ, to Coca-Cola and BMW).

In 2014, LEFFEST hosted the exhibition Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich: Homage to Photographic Masters, by Sandro Miller. This year, the photographer returns with his most recent work, as part of the programme Waiting for Mr. Lynch…

The exhibition opens on November 17, in MU.SA, Sintra.
