Born in 1940 in Alcácer do Sal, Carlos Cobra travelled to Paris (where he still lives and works) in the early 1960s as a Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship holder. In 1967 he took part in the Paris Biennale and, in 1981, he was awarded the Prix Bourdelle, the most prestigious sculpture prize in Europe. His work is practically unknown in Portugal and this exhibition, which opens on 9 November at MUDE, is a sample of his work from recent years.
Following the exhibition, LEFFEST has organised a special film programme, showcasing remarkable Portuguese and international artists from the second half of the 20th century, as part of the section A journey through some of the great artists of the 20th century. These films will be shown at the MUDE’s Auditorium.
Free admission.
Tickets for the sessions with free admission will only be available on the day of the session at the box offices of the venues where they take place.
