The Lisbon & Sintra Film Festival’17 will dedicate a full retrospective to the film work of João Mário Grilo, including a yet unreleased short film, Não Esquecerás, which adapts the short story by writer Dulce Maria Cardoso.
A director, researcher, writer and professor – one of the most singular authors of Portuguese cinema. Since Maria, his debut, he has directed over twenty films, including feature films, medium length films and documentary shorts (such as A Estrangeira, O Processo do Rei, O Fim do Mundo and Os Olhos da Ásia) and documentaries on art, literature and architecture.
His
films, which reflect on themes such as family, home and nature as places for human
expression, have often been screened and won awards at some of the most prestigious film
festivals in the world.
