Born in 1966 in Iran, Amir Hosseinpour is an opera director and choreographer. His passion for these artistic fields was influenced by his maternal grandfather, Fuad Rouhani, who co-founded the Philharmonic Society of Tehran. In 1992, Hosseinpour established the Amir Hosseinpour Dance Company, whose repertoire includes Fantasie Nocturne (at Turtle Key Arts in London) and Is That All There Is (at Almeida Theatre and La MaMa in New York).

His career includes collaborations with a range of artists from diverse creative fields, such as Karl Lagerfeld, Eiko Ishioka, Philip Glass, and Sir Colin Davis. His work spans opera, dance, and cinema. Among his various accolades, he received the Opernwelt Best European Opera Production Award and a Czech Crystal Prize in 2022 for his adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice.
