Thierry de Peretti was born on the island of Corsica, in southern France, in 1970. He began his career at Cours Florent, a theatre school, where he trained as an actor. Over the following years, he participated in several plays and films. In 2001, he won the Prix de la Révélation Théâtrale de l'Année from the National Syndicate of Critics for his role in Le Retour au désert by Bernard-Marie Koltès. De Peretti is also a theatre and film director. In 2006, he directed his first short film, Le jour de ma mort. In 2011, he directed a medium-length film, Sleepwalkers, and two years later, his first feature film, The Apaches, which premiered at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2017, A Violent Life premiered at Semaine de la Critique in Cannes. Four years later, his third feature film premiered in the Official Competition of the San Sebastián Film Festival, where it won the Jury Award for Best Cinematography and was nominated for a César Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. His most recent film, In His Image, premiered at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes.
