Susana Gaspar studied at the Lisbon National Conservatoire, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and the National Opera Studio in London. In 2013, she represented Portugal at the Cardiff Singer of the World. Her operatic roles include Violetta in La traviata, Mimì in La bohème, Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly, Manon in Massenet's work of the same name, Marguerite in Gounod's Faust, Azema in Rossini's Semiramide (recorded for Opera Rara), Paride in Gluck's Paride ed Elena, Clarice in Il mondo della luna by P. A. Avondano, Sevadilla in Rosemary and Marjoram Wars with music by António Teixeira and the Tejo Musicians, Josephine in Martinů's Comedy on the Bridge, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, and Vi in Gershwin's Blue Monday at the São Carlos National Theatre. Her recordings include Portugal Matinas do Natal for Paraty, Fanny Mendelssohn songs with Malcolm Martineau, opera arias and duets with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Renato Balsadonna, and Semiramide, Le portrait de Manon, and Les nuits d’été for Opera Rara.
