Shahd Wadi is Palestinian, among other possibilities, but her sense of freedom is predominantly Palestinian. She seeks freedom in her work, moving between research, translation, writing, curation, and art consultancy. She pursued her resistance through her PhD in Feminist Studies at the University of Coimbra in Portugal, where she became the first person in the country to receive a degree in this field. Her thesis, published as Bodies in a Bundle: Artistic-Life-Stories of Palestinian Women in Exile (2017), explores artistic body narratives within the context of the Israeli occupation of Palestine. Shahd considers art a form of life testimony, including her own. She will moderate the reading of poems from the anthology If I Must Die: Poetry of Palestinian Resistance – 21st Century.
