Celebrating 40 years in the business and recently named, for the tenth consecutive year, by the El Intruso International Critics Poll as one of the five best tenor saxophonists in the world, Rodrigo Amado is widely regarded as one of the most significant European improvisers today. Here, Amado brings together a new ensemble, Unity, featuring three of Portugal's most renowned improvisers—Pinheiro, Faustino, and Ferrandini. These four musicians, whose past collaborations span countless projects (including Red Trio, Motion Trio, Wire Quartet, and Volúpias, among many others), unite in a genuine Portuguese working band that aims to conquer the European club and festival circuit. This group, dedicated to free improvisation and real-time composition, comprises celebrated artists, all recognised for their ability to challenge and expand the boundaries of the genre, as well as for their total commitment, both on stage and in the studio. Together, they form a powerful and cohesive unit that promises to captivate audiences with its unique sonic approach and a vision that blends tradition with bold experimentation.
