Olivier Assayas

Director

French filmmaker, screenwriter, and film critic, he is known for films such as Irma Vep (1996), The Affair of the Necklace (2002), Something in the Air (2012), Clouds of Sils Maria (2014), and Personal Shopper (2016). Since then, he has appeared at the Venice Film Festival with the espionage thriller Wasp Network (2019) and adapted his classic Irma Vep (1996) into a limited series for HBO (2022). His most recent film, The Wizard of the Kremlin (2025), an adaptation of Giuliano da Empoli’s novel, is being screened at LEFFEST. Olivier Assayas is the son of filmmaker and screenwriter Raymond Assayas, also known as Jacques Rémy.
