Luís Fonseca has worked as an assistant director and annotator on various films since 1990. In 1993, he co-founded Contracosta Productions with Francisco Villa-Lobos. He has collaborated on several occasions with director Mónica Calle in the Casa Conveniente company, working in different roles from production to dramaturgy. He has also collaborated several times with director Álvaro Correia at Comuna-Teatro de Pesquisa, translating and writing original texts. Fonseca has written several plays, including “O Voo Das Borboletas” (1998), “O Vento Que Vem” (2000) and “Alguns Lugares” (2005). With Francisco Villa-Lobos, he made the documentary Ouguela (1994) and, in 1999, he directed the short film Chuva, which premiered at the 1999 Venice Film Festival, in the Corto Cortissimo section. His feature film Antes que o tempo mude (2003) premiered in November 2003 at the Turin International Youth Film Festival. It won the FIPRESCI Award at the Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival.
