JP Simões was born in Coimbra in 1970. He studied Social Communication and holds a master’s degree in Literary Theory from the University of Lisbon. In the 1990s, he was a member of Pop Dell’Arte and later joined Belle Chase Hotel, with which he released two albums. He also produced an album with Quinteto Tati. In 2007, he began releasing albums under his own name, starting with 1970, followed by Boato (2009), Onde Mora o Mundo (2010, with Afonso Pais), Roma (2013), and most recently, Tremble Like a Flower (2017), released under the artistic name of Bloom. As a singer, composer, and lyricist, he has published a book of short stories and has participated as a musician and actor in films directed by Fernando Vendrell and Edgar Pêra.
