João Mendes Ferreira is a clinical psychologist and a member of the Portuguese Society of Psychoanalysis (SPP) and the International Sándor Ferenczi Network. He created and coordinates the meetings Édipo em Alexandria – conversas na biblioteca da SPP. He works in private practice with children, adolescents, and adults, and also works in educational contexts. His published works span psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, education and culture, art, literature, and cinema. Among his most recent publications are: Notas sobre cinema e psicanálise in Revista Lote #3, 2021; “Sou deste lugar / como as árvores / e as casas”, Atelier Carlos Nogueira, 2022; Identificação projetiva, função objetalizante e narratividade – après-coup da psicoterapia psicanalítica de um adolescente in Revista Portuguesa de Psicanálise #43(1), 2023; O dildo no relicário: desejo, excitação, violência, III Colóquio Identidades e Afetos – o sexo e o sexual, 2023; Life? In 2019, he was the curator of the film series “O Feminino do Avesso” (Medeia Nimas).
