The Latvian pianist Georgijs Osokins gained international recognition at age 19 after competing in the 17th International Chopin Piano Competition, where he became an audience favorite. Critics described his interpretations as “revolutionary,” “extraordinary,” and “unpredictable.” Following the competition, he performed at major venues such as Konzerthaus Berlin, Boulez Saal, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Salzburg Festival, Laeiszhalle and Elbphilharmonie, Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, Lockenhaus Festival, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Vancouver Playhouse, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Hall and the Shanghai Music Festival.
In 2025, Georgijs signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon, becoming the first Baltic pianist on the German label. His debut album For Arvo, featuring Arvo Pärt’s complete piano works for the legendary composer’s 90th anniversary, was released last September and was named among Apple Music’s Top 10 and Mezzo TV’s Top 5 albums of the month. The album also includes a two-piano piece recorded with Martha Argerich.
Osokins frequently collaborates with Gidon Kremer, in the GGG Trio, touring across the UK, Ireland, Europe, Asia, and the USA.
