Gidon Kremer

Born in Latvia in 1947, he is a world-renowned classical violinist. Winner of major competitions, including the International Tchaikovsky Competition (1970), he began his career in 1975 and founded the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival in 1981. In 1997, he created the Kremerata Baltica chamber orchestra, composed of young musicians from the Baltic states. In cinema, Kremer portrayed Niccolò Paganini in the film Frühlingssinfonie (1983), directed by Peter Schamoni, and in 2001, he participated in the documentary Back to Bach, which explores his interpretation of Bach’s scores.
