Conductor, pianist, composer

António Victorino d'Almeida was born in Lisbon in 1940. Deeply influenced by his family's artistic background, he soon revealed his musical talent, composing his first piece at the age of five. He attended high school while completing the Piano Course at the Lisbon National Conservatory. He received a scholarship from the Institute of High Culture to study composition in Vienna, Austria, where he lived for over twenty years. He also served as cultural attaché at the Portuguese Embassy in Vienna from 1974 to 1981. His career has been characterised by transdisciplinarity, with works as a director, screenwriter, and author of various fiction books and other genres. With a vast body of work that encompasses numerous musical genres, extending from chamber music to fado, d'Almeida has always prioritised his musical endeavours and considers himself first and foremost a composer.
