Three Songs about Lenin gathers all known footage of Lenin and first-person testimonies about his legacy by workers, peasants, and newly liberated women of Central Asia in a documentary that celebrates the achievements of the Soviet Union and Lenin's role in them.


The famous Russian director Dziga Vertov proposes a new aesthetic for socialist realism, which articulates the avant-garde montage of A Man With a Movie Camera (1929) with the poetic style of the documentary Three Songs about Lenin.
