In 1985, in a small village in County Wexford, Ireland, Bill, a quiet and respected man in the community, works as a coal merchant to support his wife and five daughters. One morning at work he witnesses a mother forcing her daughter into the local convent and is shaken by her screams. This discovery makes him confront childhood traumas and leads him to question the community's conniving silence about the Catholic Church's control.
