Based on Oliver Stone's own war experiences, Platoon marks the first film in the director's trilogy about the Vietnam War. Highly praised and award-winning, the film stands out for its realism in the battle sequences, choosing to evoke an unsettling and constant sense of danger. The plot follows the story of a young recruit who finds himself in the middle of two sergeants with different perspectives on the conflict in which they find themselves, as well as the morality of their actions. Stone effectively demonstrates how the physical and psychological burden of battle with the enemy results in fragmentation within the platoon.
