Leonard Fife refused to participate in the Vietnam War and fled to Canada, where he became an acclaimed documentary filmmaker. Now, afflicted by an oncologic illness in terminal phase, he is willing to be interviewed by a group of former students. Emma, his wife, is present throughout the process to protect his legacy. As Fife dives into the past, the palliative treatments blur his memories and the story fractures. The documentarian becomes the documented in this film which is structured like a puzzle, a montage of recollections where the audience is in constant doubt about what is being shown.
