From September through December 1990, painter Antonio López struggles to set down on canvas the fleeting reality of how the fruit of the quince tree ripens in the changing light of fall. The painter’s constant observation, study from nature and patient gestures are echoed by the visual research of the filmmaker, who does not shy away from revealing the tools of the artist’s trade. Around them, as around the courtyard where the tree grows, life is embodied by an affectionate family, by some men at work and by the distant hum of the city.
