Roberto Benigni is the Devil. Tired of his monotonous life in Hell, he travels to Earth and inhabits the body of a woman. A provincial priest, Maurice, is summoned to perform an exorcism. The Devil reveals himself and, reluctant to return home, decides to hide in the church, making priest Maurice’s life a living Hell. An irreverent comedy directed and interpreted by Roberto Benigni, seen as a counterpoint to Wim Wenders’ Wings of Desire, where the Devil is whoever wants to penetrate the body of the one he loves.
