In 1921, Carlos da Maia and Machado Santos, two figures of the Portuguese Republic, are murdered in the events known as the “Bloody Night”. Refusing to accept the official account of her husband’s death, Berta da Maia begins her own investigation. Her search takes her to Abel Olímpio, known as “Dente de Ouro”, and into the political intrigue surrounding one of the darkest episodes of Portugal’s First Republic.
