Girls Will Be Girls

The first film by director Shuchi Talati and the on-screen introduction of actors Preeti Panigrahi and Kesav Binoy Kiron, this is a dramatic coming-of-age film that tells the story of the 16-year-old protagonist, Mira, and the discovery and exploration of her sexuality. Set in a boarding school in the Himalayan foothills, Mira meets the young Sri, with whom she falls in love. Although her attraction to Sri presents her with the enthusiasm and rebelliousness she so desires, it also complicates her relationship with her mother, who has never been able to experience that same freedom.
