Antiporno

Anti-Porno is a radically beautiful film, in a controversial and anarchistic way, where the quest for freedom is the central theme. The film unfolds like a matryoshka doll, revealing new realities within themselves, reversing roles and creating illusions. The main character, a whimsical and eccentric J-pop star, is played by Ami Tomite with an erotic freshness and a wild visual force. Sion Sono pays homage here to Angel Guts: Red Porno (1981) by Toshiharu Ikeda, subverting the "Roman Porno" genre and transforming it into a fantastical world of immense visual richness.

Sion Sono

Born in Japan in 1961, Sion Sono began his artistic career at the age of 17 as a poet. Shortly thereafter, he ventured into the world of cinema, producing several short films in Super 8. He directed his first feature film, Otoko no hanamichi, in 1987, but it was in 2008 that he established himself as a cult director and gained international recognition with his film Ai no mukidashi. Since then, Sono has been highly acclaimed and awarded at various international film festivals, such as the Berlin Festival, the Toronto Festival, and the Karlovy Vary Festival. In addition to his work as a director, he is noted for his involvement in other stages of the creative process, often taking responsibility for the screenplay, production, and score of his own films. His work is renowned for its subversive nature, blending horror and violence while depicting socially marginalised characters to create graphic and brutal scenes.
