All We Imagine as Light

In Mumbai, Nurse Prabha's routine is disrupted when she receives an unexpected gift from her estranged husband. Meanwhile, her younger roommate, Anu, struggles to find a private spot in the city to be intimate with her boyfriend. A trip to a beach town allows them to find a space for their desires to manifest. A story of sorority, in a daily life of women where friendship is the driving force for discovering beauty and themselves.

Payal Kapadia

Payal Kapadia is a filmmaker and artist from Mumbai whose work explores the unseen, residing in memories and balancing between reality and dream. Over the past decade, she has created an impressive body of short films, described as a hybrid form of cinema that blends experimental, narrative, and documentary genres, establishing a career of cinematic excellence and winning numerous awards at international festivals. In 2019, Kapadia was selected for the prestigious Berlinale Talents programme and participated in the Cannes Film Festival's Cinéfondation artistic residency. Her debut feature film, A Night of Knowing Nothing, premiered at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight in 2021, achieving critical acclaim and winning multiple awards, including the Oeil d'Or Award for Best Documentary at Cannes, the Amplify Voices Award in Toronto, and the LEFFEST Award. Her latest project, All We Imagine as Light, was widely praised and won the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes.
