A Real Pain

Two distant cousins reunite for a trip through Poland in honour of their grandmother. David, anxiety-ridden, prefers to stick to the rules, whilst Benji is charismatic and spontaneous. As the duo retraces their Jewish heritage and visits Holocaust memorials, including the Majdanek concentration camp, David and Benji strive to reconcile their differences and their relationship with their family's history. This film explores the lasting and painful legacy of the Holocaust, juxtaposing the analysis of family dynamics with the remnants of a profound historical trauma.
