Through a selection of experimental short films, this session revisits the spirit of protest and revolutionary energy of 1968. From reflections on the circulation of images and revolutionary discourse in the 1960s in Die Worte des Vorsitzenden (Harun Farocki, 1967),to May 1968 in France — with Cinetracts (1968), Actua 1 (Philippe Garrel, 1968) e La Révolution n’est qu’un début, continuons le combat (Pierre Clémenti, 1968) — to the student struggles in Japan with Gewaltopia Trailer (Motoharu Jonouchi, 1968) and the protests against the Vietnam War portrayed in The Sixth Side of the Pentagon (Chris Marker, 1968), cinema asserts itself here as an instrument of resistance and collective creation.
Afterwards, the bar will open its doors, encouraging informal conversations and debates among the audience, while drawing inspiration from the Oscar-winning documentary Woodstock (1970), by Michael Wadleigh, which will be shown in the background throughout its more than three-hour duration.
