The film Whispers (1980), by Maroun Bagdadi, part of the programme “Images of War, War of Images” is a journey through different regions of Lebanon, devastated by civil war, in an exploration of a country struggling to survive and find hope. As the Lebanese poet Nadia Tueni, whom we follow on this journey, says, “music is a force against war.” We will embrace this motto on an evening dedicated to Lebanon and its fight for survival. Alongside the screening of Whispers, we will have the presence of Lebanese composer and multi-instrumentalist Charif Megarbane, accompanied by the band Papié Maché, in a concert that seeks to elevate the sounds of hope over the sounds of war.
Tickets for this event can be purchased 2 hours before the event at the Teatro do Bairro box office.
