Barbet Schroeder was born on August 26, 1941, in Tehran, Iran and he studied philosophy in the Sorbonne, in France. He is a director and producer, best known for his films: Murder by Numbers (2002), Single White Female (1992) and Barfly (1987).


He founded "Les Films du Losange" at age 23, producing some of the most notable films of the French Nouvelle Vague. He directed the Oscar-winning film Reversal of Fortune (1990), starring Jeremy Irons.
