Curated by pianist Raúl da Costa, the concert features Anouar Brahem, António Victorino d’Almeida, Mariam Said, Michael Barenboim, Ricardo Toscano, Shahd Wadi, Anja Lechner, Beatriz Felício, Jayson Gillham, Rasha Nahas, Mais Hreish, Sindy Mohamed, among many others.
On November 10th, at 5pm at the Tivoli BBVA Theatre, the film-concert ‘The Knight of the Rose’ will take place, a co-production of LEFFEST, OPART and TNSC. It's the story of a love triangle among the aristocracy of Vienna in the 1700s, which inspired one of Richard Strauss's most famous operas. It serves as the screenplay for the silent film by Robert Wiene, a prominent figure in German Expressionism. The film will be presented in a restored print, accompanied by Strauss's original score, performed live by the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Pedro Amaral.
At 9pm on November 15th, at the Tivoli BBVA Theatre, there is the ‘Bonga’ concert, an unprecedented show by Angolan musician Bonga, in homage to the politician, writer and poet Mário Pinto de Andrade, about whom Billy Woodberry directed the film Mário, which premieres at LEFFEST. The first part of the concert will feature a reading of poems by Mário Pinto de Andrade.
