One of the greatest contemporary pianists living today, Piotr Anderszewski is known for the intensity and originality of his renditions. Amongst several awards, he has won the prestigious Gilmore Award, a prize given every four years to a pianist of exceptional quality. His extensive discography includes renditions of Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Chopin and Szymanowski (of whom he played a rare piece in a concert at LEFFEST 2014). He has played with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston, Chicago and London Philharmonic Orchestras, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, among others. Additionally, he has been the topic of two documentaries directed by Bruno Monsaingeon: Piotr Anderszewski – Voyageur Intranquile (2009) and Piotr Anderszewski Plays the Diabelli Variations (2000), in which he invites the viewer on his exploration of Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations, a piece lasting over an hour and composed of thirty-three variations.
