Nabil Ayouch

Born in Paris in 1969, French-Moroccan filmmaker Nabil Ayouch is one of the leading figures of contemporary Moroccan cinema. Founder of Ali n' Productions, a production company dedicated to supporting young directors, he has developed a body of work committed to Morocco's social and cultural issues. He began his career in advertising, moving on to short films and making his feature-length debut with Mektoub (1997). He cemented his international recognition with Ali Zaoua: Prince of the Streets (2000), and since then has been a regular at Cannes, with titles such as Horses of God (2012, Un Certain Regard), Much Loved (2015, Directors' Fortnight), and Casablanca Beats (2021, Official Competition). In 2024, he presented Everybody Loves Touda at the Cannes Première section, and this year he is the co-writer of Calle Málaga, a film by his wife and creative partner on several feature films, Maryam Touzan. It will be screened out of competition at the LEFFEST, in a session attended by both of them.
