Double bass player

After establishing himself in the 1980s as an electric bass player in alternative rock bands such as K4 Quadrado Azul, Hernâni Faustino turned to jazz and to the double bass, which he learned as a self-taught musician. Today, he is regarded as one of the leading bassists on the Portuguese scene, collaborating with both Portuguese and international musicians, in particular with drummer Gabriel Ferrandini, in projects such as RED Trio and Nobuyasu Furuya Trio & Quintet. In 2023, at LEFFEST, he took part in Fritz Lang’s Metropolis cine-concert, and this year he is one of the musicians providing a live soundtrack to Charlie Chaplin’s films The Immigrant (1917) and The Pilgrim (1923).
