Basílio Horta

Born in 1943 and with an educational background in Law, Basílio Horta is an Associate Professor at the Higher Institute of Political Social Sciences and current Mayor of Sintra. He has borne several different important titles, such as that of Minister of Commerce and Tourism, Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture, Trade and Fisheries, Counsellor of State, Ambassador to the OECD and Chairman of the Board of Directors of AICEP, Vice-President of the PS Parliamentary Group and Coordinator of the Economics area. He was also president of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area Council between 2015 and 2017. Basílio Horta has received several foreign distinctions and the Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry.
