Arnaud Desplechin is one of the most respected contemporary French directors. Since his first feature film, The Sentinel (1992), he has been a regular in the Cannes Film Festival competition, where he also competed for the Palme d'Or with titles such as My Sex Life... or How I Got Into an Argument (1996), Esther Kahn (2000), A Christmas Tale (2008) and Brother and Sister (2022). He also participated in the Directors' Fortnight with My Golden Days (2015), winning the SACD Award and the César Award for Best Director. In 2024, he returned to Cannes with the docudrama Filmlovers!, part of the L'Œil d'or competition, dedicated to documentary cinema. Outside France, he competed at the 2004 Venice Film Festival with Kings & Queen, a work that would later be included in the thematic retrospective “The Counterwave: New French Cinema”, presented in San Sebastián in 2009. This year, Desplechin is one of the guests at LEFFEST, where he presents Deux Pianos, his latest film, nominated for the Golden Shell in San Sebastián Film Festival.
