Anghel "Caliu" Gheorghe

Violinist, leader of the legendary Taraf de Caliu and one of the oldest members of the band, that, in 2002, won the BBC World Music prize for Best Group in Europe & Middle East, when they were performing under the name Taraf de Haidouks. Audiences may remember his appearance in Tony Gatlif’s Latcho Drom (1993); and the musician and the directors paths meet again at LEFFEST, for a debate on the topic of “Music in Tony Gatlif’s Cinema”.
