Alberto Ruiz de Samaniego was born in Fene, Spain, in 1966 and he is a  professor of Aesthetics and Art Theory at the University of Vigo. He was the director of the Luis Seoane Foundation, in Coruña, and responsible for the Spanish pavilion at the 2006 Venice Biennial. Best known for his work as an art critic and exhibit curator, Samaniego has also published several books, mostly in the fields of art and philosophy, including: Semillas del tiempo (1999), Maurice Blanchot: una Estética de lo Neutro (1999), La Inflexión Posmoderna: lo Márgenes de la Modernidad (2004), Belleza de Outro Mundo: apuntes sobre Algunas Poéticas del Inmovilismo (2006), Ser y no Ser (2013), Figuras en el Dominio de lo Espectral (2013), Las Horas Belas - Escritores sobre cine (2015) e Negro Teatro de Jorge Molder (2015).
