Director, screenwriter, a leading figure in American independent film, the author of one of the most sombre films of the last 30 years. Mostly set in urban landscapes, especially New York, his work offers deep insight into the very human heart of darkness. King of New York, Bad Lieutenant, Welcome to New York and Pasolini are a few of his most relevant works. His recent documentary Piazza Vittorio, about the largest and most racially eclectic Roman piazza, will be screened at LEFFEST.
