Inherent Vice

In the free-spirited era of the 1970s Los Angeles, Larry is a laid-back, innocuous and somewhat incompetent private investigator. His illogical thought process and intuitive way of life reveals a mind floating about like the smoke he exhales from the regular joints he smokes. When his ex-girlfriend asks him for help with a plot involving her new boyfriend and his wife, Larry suddenly finds himself involved in a series of embroilments and criminal cases needing to be solved. Playing with the groovy rhythm of the hippie subculture, Anderson crafts a group of eccentric caricatures to encapsulate the moods and colours of a story where reality’s limits appear to blur into several distinct layers.
