Joaquim Pinto’s first film tells a story of initiation and the shock of adult life: on vacation at his aunt’s waterfront inn, Miguel meets Luísa, fisherman João and Dr. Fernando, three characters who will lead to the first stone in his pocket. Shot without grants and a short crew, Uma Pedra no Bolso was one of the pleasant surprises in the 1980s Portuguese cinema.
