The second surrealist creation by Buñuel and Dalí — though this time directed solely by the Buñuel — The Golden Age is the most anticlerical of films. It tells the story of a man and a woman madly in love, whose attempts to consummate their passion are repeatedly thwarted by their families, the Church, and bourgeois society.
The screening features a live musical accompaniment by Rodrigo Amado and David Maranha, a duo blending saxophone, percussion, and organ, exploring the tonal possibilities of Buñuelian surrealism.
